Field Engineers (Urgent Requirement)

Job Description

We are seeking experienced and reliable Field Service Engineers for an exciting nationwide project, set to commence in May until July 2025 with a strong possibility of extension beyond this date, depending on business needs. Project Details:

  • Shift Pattern: Night shifts, up to 4 nights per week (Sunday to Wednesday)

  • Scope of Work:

    • SSC replacements

    • POS replacements (Main Bank and peripherals)

    • Memory upgrades on existing SSC units

    • Training provided

Key Requirements:

  • ECS Card (mandatory)

  • Asbestos Awareness certification (mandatory)

  • Proven experience in POS equipment installation and de-installation

  • IT hardware/software experience is essential

  • Previous experience with well-known hospitality or retail chains is highly advantageous

  • Flexibility to travel nationwide as required

  • Own reliable vehicle and valid driving licence

  • Own tools, including:

    • Basic hand tools (screwdrivers, cordless drill, side cutters, small socket set)

    • Windows laptop (beneficial)

  • PPE: Safety boots (additional PPE provided: hi-vis, goggles, etc.)

  • Positive, proactive attitude and strong team player

  • Good communication skills with the ability to accurately report issues

  • Logical fault-finding skills and the ability to follow detailed written instructions

Main Responsibilities:

  • Installation and de-installation of IT hardware and software

  • Providing excellent customer service on-site

  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as required

  • Liaising with senior engineers and management for smooth project delivery

  • Accurately completing all paperwork and reports on time

  • Managing travel and work time efficiently to meet site schedules

  • Assisting other trades to complete installations effectively

  • Working flexibly, including nights and weekends

  • Adhering to all health & safety procedures and site requirements

Working Environment:

  • Frequent travel across the UK (travel expenses covered)

  • Physical demands include lifting equipment (1–20kg), bending, squatting, standing for extended periods, and working in confined or unusual positions

  • High-pressure environments, occasionally working in customer-facing situations

Remuneration:

  • Sunday: £174.10 per 10-hour shift

  • Monday to Wednesday: £141.30 per 8-hour shift

Mileage and Travel Time are paid.

Important:

  • You must have your own vehicle, tools, and a valid ECS Card to be considered.

  • A pre-screening employment assessment is required before commencing work with Rapid/NCR.
